The Kamala Nehru Park and Sanjay Gandhi National Park Mumbai were the two spots left for the day. We visited the Kamal Nehru Park first. It is a beautiful park, which was built in memory of Kamala Nehru, the wife of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. The park was located right at Malabar Hills’ top. The drive to the park was a pleasant one. On the way to the park, I told my kids about the Nehru-Gandhi family. The Kamal Nehru Park was a very popular park among the children of Mumbai. The schools in Mumbai often brought their students studying in the lower classes to this park for recreational purposes. The shoe-shaped structure was a highlight of the park.
We then drove towards the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali. It is a rare National Park, located in the heart of the city. The park is a serene place in the midst of the din and bustle of the city of Mumbai. We were amazed at the rich biodiversity that we witnesses. There were a huge variety of plants in the park. The birds were of various species and colours. We took a lot of photographs during our trip around the park. There were many flowering plants, which were in full bloom. It looked splendid indeed. The hill slopes of the park are covered by the Strobilanthus flowers, which gave a purple tinge to the landscape. The park was rich in various kinds of reptiles as well. The Tulsi Lake had crocodiles in them. We also saw a lot of cobras, pythons, vipers and other such reptiles.
Inside the park, we came across Kanheri caves, which are known for their archaeological important. The sculptures in the caves provide an idea about the Buddhist era of India. The insects of the park were of various species. We were able to learn a lot about new species of animals. It was a pleasant trip. The kids loved both the Kamala Nehru Park and the Sanjay Gandhi National Park Mumbai. It was a memorable trip for all of us.
