Let us all welcome the brand new year with open arms. I wish all the happiness and prosperity to each one of my loved ones in this new year. I also pray that you get more success and happiness than the previous year.
Infant Jesus brought much joy to his parents and also many people around him. His birth was a celebrated miracle and this is the reason why Christmas is so special. It is the time of the year when all loved ones gather around the Christmas tree to celebrate the festival and share gifts and joy with each other.
Everybody knows Bangalore as the IT hub of India. But, very less people know about the fun, the awesome climate, tourist spots, the five star resorts and the delicious cuisine of Bangalore. I am Sunita Katoch, a workaholic! But when I am not in a mood to work, I pack my back and head away to any destination which catches my fancy!
This time I had taken a weekend off from my work and made plans of visiting Bangalore. Well, I didn’t wanted to explore the city, my plan was just to check into one of the luxurious and exotic resorts of Bangalore and cool my heels and enjoy the royal touches!
I have heard a lot about the resorts in Bangalore but I was not sure on what to choose as there was a wide array of choices.
Finally I narrowed down and shortlisted the top 5 luxury resorts in Bangalore for my stay, after a lot of comparing done on the services provided by each one of them. They were: The Shreyas Retreat, Discovery Village, Ankit Vista Green Village, Goldfinch Retreat and Olde Bangalore Resort. To be frank, I liked all the 5 resorts, and was in a total confusion on which to choose. I started with the Shreyas Retreat and then proceeded to the next in my list.
The Shreyas Retreat offered
- Pool side cottages and tented garden cottages in the lush green atmosphere
- Pleasant, disciplined and calm stay away from the hush of city life
- Sophisticated spa treatments, and provision for yoga and meditation
- Organic farm giving a unique experience to the visitors.
The Discovery Village also made a great pull,
- Offers perfect cottages, ideal for romantic honeymoon couples
- Close to tourist spots like Muneshwara swamy temple, Bangalore palace, Bolare Dam, and many more interesting places.
- Vegetarian and non vegetarian delicacies provided at the multi cuisine in house restaurant.
Finally when it came to Ankit Vista Green Village, I put a sudden break and booked the room here as its beauty really tugged at my heart strings!
The minute I stepped into this haven of peace and tranquillity, I could feel the tension and strain ebb away from my body as it was an oasis amidst tall trees and long stretches of greenery. The multi cuisine restaurant named Thripthi Greens which serves Chinese to Continental and the outdoor swimming pool side restaurant Spoorthy really were our hub and the whole family enjoyed very well amidst the hearty hospitality. I bid the resort goodbye with a vow in my heart to visit it again for my next holiday!
After a wonderful trip to the Cubbons Park of the city, it was now turn to visit one of the biggest landmarks of Bangalore, the Bangalore Palace. The palace is a renowned place in the city and is known for its wooden structure and amazing carvings both inside and outside which depicts different architectural styles and is reminiscent of the royal culture of the city. The Palace grounds are also known for hosting concerts, cultural programs and events which involve a high number of audience and spectators.
The construction of the palace started in the year 1862 and was completed by 1944. There have been constant changes to the ownership of the empire from the Woddeyar Dynasty to the British.it is said that on his visit to England, Wadiyar Dynasty King was highly impressed with the architecture of the Windsor castle and this inspired him to build a similar style palace in Bangalore.
The Palace is currently under the ownership of the Royal family of Mysore and since 2005 it is opened for the public. The entry fees and charges collected are all used for the maintenance of the Palace. The palace has many artefacts which are made from the trunk and body parts of animals like elephants and tigers which were hunted by the Woodeyar Kings.
The gardens of the Palace are spread across more than 450 acres. The furniture which is kept inside the palace is equally stunning reminiscent of the Victorian style and Edwardian styles. Floral motifs, wooden carvings are used everywhere to decorate the interiors of the Palace. There are 35 rooms inside the Palace. The Palace has undergone a massive renovation program. There are many artefacts which are now publicly exhibited like old photographs and silk clothes used by the Royal families.
Bangalore Palace is used by many Rock bands and Pop starts for their tour to India. Once I was done with the visit to the Palace I headed back to my hotel for spending the night and having dinner. The hotel which I had booked for this trip was Hotel Clarks Exotica Resort& Spa.

After an awe inspiring visit to the exotic summer palace of Tipu Sultan, we decided to have a relaxing time at one of the most famous attractions of the city known as the Cubbons Park. The park which is located in the administrative area of the city is full of aesthetically designed buildings and statues of some of the famous personalities of the world. It is also famous for the rich flora and fauna. Bangalore is known as the Garden City just because of the beauty of this park.
The place excites one and all. Not only the joggers, botany enthusiast or kids but also nature lovers and people of all ages love to hangout here and spend some time amidst the beauty of this place. The park was created in the year 1870 Major General Richard Shankey. The park has undergone many name changes ever since but the people of Bangalore fondly remember and name it as Cubbons Park.
The park houses statues of King Edward, Queen Mary, Mark Cubbon and Maharaja Woodeyar. One can find very beautiful species of many plants specie inside the park. The most renowned spot inside the park is Band Stand which has hosted many rock shows, musicians and concerts. The amusement park for the kids was loved by my kids the most. The Express Ride train and many other games can be enjoyed there by children.
The park is a jewel in the cap of Bangalore. A city which is known for its multi-cultural ethnicity and home to so many IT firms desperately deserves a place like Cubbons Park where one can simply enjoy nature far away from the noises and hustle bustle of city life. The park is open to general public all time and from 5 AM to * Am no vehicle is allowed on the Park Road making it a silent zone.
The visit to the beautiful Cubbons Park refreshed us all. We were also a bit tired so we decided to try some exotic and delicious food of this side of the country. the next place which we visited after this was the Bangalore Palace.
Robert Louis Stevenson is hailed as one of the greatest philosophers of the era and I agree with this quote by him. As a travel job assistant I get my generous share of visiting places and sending people to places. Each one of those travelers comes back in a state of bliss and a sense of high that only travelling can give!
